12 Pans of Christmas. INTRO

Hi everyone, in the past I have not been very good at using up the products in my makeup and beauty collection. But, I have decided that over the next 2 months to really focus on 12 products and either hit pan ( where it applies), use them all up or if I can't, just try to use as much of the product as I can.

First up is my Mac Prolongwear concealer in the shade NW15. I want to finish this as soon as I can as I feel like it goes very fast as it is far too easy to pump too much out, and a tiny amount of this concealer goes a long way.

So much product gets wasted just on one pump and so I am going to mark on the bottle where I'm at so I have an accurate representation of where I am. I definitely want to finish this by the end of December.

2. Next is the L'Oréal  Nude Magique BB powder. I love this powder and I'm still not sick of it yet after using it for many months.  I do want to try other powders though and this one is not cruelty free.  I definitely want to finish it by the end of the year or just hit major pan if I really try.

3. The 3rd is an eyeshadow from my Naked 1 palette in the shade Naked, I really want to hit pan on it, and I already have a dip in it. Hopefully you will be able to see this in the photo below.
It is the 3rd shade from the left. I really like this colour in particular and I also want to focus on the whole of the Naked palette for the next month or 2. I don't show this palette enough love and I love all the colours in tbis palette.

4. The next product ia a lip liner from Nyx in the shade "Bloom". This is one of my favourite lip liners. The colour is just perfect for this time of year.

It suits so many skintones. I have a friend who has a much darker skintone than myself and she loves it too. I have quite a lot to use up in this one but I'm sure I will make good use of it.

5. Whilst we are talking about lips, the next item is the Urban Decay lip gloss in "Walk Of Shame ".

This is one of the few lipglosses I use over and over.  I don't tend to use lipgloss a lot normally but this is really comfortable to wear and I feel like it has enough staying power so I dont keep worrying about whether it needed reapplying, but I can top up if I want to. It jas a subtle kind of pinkish tint so I can use it on its own and it is a little bit of colour without it being too much if I dont have any other makeup on. I don't know how far down I am, you cant really tell but I want to use up as much as I can because I love this colour and I don't want it to go bad.

6. I want to include 2 perfumes in this challenge.  The first is Emporio Armani Diamonds, I only have a tiny amount left.
7. The next perfume is Lady Million. I really like both of these perfumes but I have so many in my collection that I want to get these finished.

8. Next is a body lotion from Natural Collection in Vanilla.
Now this is really old as it is in the old packaging and so I want to use as much as I can.  I love the scent though, i love Vanilla and this smells so good that it will feel lovely to use this up.

9. A mascara I want to finish is the  Clinique High Impact Mascara. This is great as I love the look of long lashes and this certainly delivers without having  to use falsies. Im putting it in this challenge as I've had it open for a while and so want to use it up before it goes bad.
10. The Beautis Factory Makeup  Fix + Mist is next on my list. I have been using this instead of Mac's Fix + and I have had this bottle for well over 12 months. I LOVE it. I purchased it from Ebay and it works really well setting my makeup  and helps hydrate my skin if I use it under my foundation too. I can probably get it finished by the beginning of December.
11. A primer I have been loving ever since I saw NikkiTutorials off YouTube rave about it is the Nivea for Men Sensitive Shave balm. This is a fantastic product and is a huge bottle for approximately  £4. I have been using it for over a year though and definitely needs using up and out of my collection.
12. The last item is a hair product that has been a total staple in my hair routine which is the Tresemme  Get Sleek Protect and Polish mist. I use this everytime I  straighten my hair . It gives my hair the sleek look I love and helps keep the frizz at bay.

Well, that is it. I have 12 items in this challenge I should be able to finish all of them, there is no reason why I shouldnt be able to not finish them. Im going to go ahead and mark my starting points and that is all.

I hope you have had a great weekend and speak to you next time.

Recipe: Slimming World Overnight Oats

As some of you might be aware, I have had a very on/off relationship with Slimming World. I have started probably 4 or 5 times before, lost lots of weight then stopped going and the weight piled back on. Some of this is because due to my ill health I cannot do a lot of physical activity and some blame can just be put on me being greedy and liking food too much.

A few months back I went to a routine hospital appointment and they basically told me I was morbidly obese (according to their charts) and needed to lose 4 stone or my health would deteriorate faster and so my new journey with Slimming World began

My consultant was really welcoming and I felt determined to lose the weight this time. So far, I have lost 12.5lbs and feel really motivated to keep going. One of the reasons in the past as to why I kept giving up was I felt bored with the meals I had been doing, especially breakfasts. Normally I would just stick to weetabix or porridge, but then I found a recipe called "Overnight Oats" and my breakfast routine is now something I look forward to.

The ingredients are:-

35g porridge oats
200g fat free natural yoghurt
Mixed fruits

Method

1.Layer the porridge, yoghurt and fruit in a jar or bowl.

2. Cover and put in the refrigerator overnight so the porridge absorbs all the yoghurt.

3.In the morning mix all the ingredients together and then if you want, add more fruit.

As you can see I use natural plain yoghurt, but you can use any flavour yoghurt you like, even mullerlight yoghurts. I also use frozen strawberries, blackberries, blueberries but you can also use bananas, peaches., the different varieties you could do are endless.

This breakfast is so delicious and does not even taste like a breakfast! It truly feels like you are having a yummy dessert for breakfast. If you have not tried Overnight Oats you should, they are really healthy and really delicious.

If you have a recipe that you like to make and think I might enjoy it, please leave it in the comments below I would love to read your recommendations.

Speak to you soon xx

October 2016 favourites feat. Soap and Glory, No 7, Anastacia, Urban Decay, Mac and Colourpop Cosmetics.

Hi everyone. Hope you are all doing well. I thought today I would talk about some products that I have been loving over the past month. First up are two lip products that have worked so well together I've hardly used anything else. They are the Anastasia lip gloss in "Vintage" and the Colour Pop lip liner in "Frick n Frack"

They are so nice and smooth to apply, the lip gloss has a little bit of sheen to it and is extremely comfortable to wear. The lip gloss is just a little darker than my normal lip colour and so looks quite natural. The gloss is creeping up to be one of my favourite glosses of the year!

Another favourite is the body butter from Soap and Glory " The Righteous Butter". It contains softening shea butter and aloe vera in it.

This is so good and smells so delicious and is perfect for autumn and winter. You can see that I have nearly finished the whole tub. Its so luxurious and velvety in formula but feels silky on the skin once you get it worked in. I don't feel that this leaves me at all greasy, sometimes other body butters leave my skin feeling greasy but this one does not.

I just got this Urban Decay eye primer in the summer about August time and I have been using it almost everyday, I would say 4 or 5 times every week. There seems to be a lot of product in there, 10ml to be exact, just a point of reference if you wanted to compare it to other eye primers.
It is such a pretty shade, it has this nice kind of pink undertone to it. There is a swatch of it on my hand. It does have enough pigmentation to it to fully block out any veining or discolouration on my eyelids so I have really been enjoying it. I can put a deeper colored base throughout the crease area and then go back in with Minor Sin all over the lid and it looks really pretty and holds eyeshadow all day. I'm really happy I tried this. I've only used the original primer potion before which is similar but this has more colour.

Something else I have gone back to recently is Mac's BlackTrack fluidline.

I have been having problems getting my eyeliner to stay so I went back to this and it has definitely helped. I can take my time with this and it is definitely more foolproof than the other eyeliners I have tried. This has been a saving grace lately. It is a matte black and it wears all day for me , it doesn't flake or anything and is a pretty deep black in my opinion.

My last favourite of the month has been the No7 pressed powder in fair.

It is an extremely smooth powder to apply, like when you touch it, it just feels like silk on your fingertips. It's very fine and I use it all over my face to set my makeup as a finishing powder. I tend to always use it with the Charlotte Tilbury Powder and Sculpt brush and it sets my under eye concealer really well. It doesn't break down, and does not cling onto any dry patches. You get 10g of powder and so this will last me ages. It doesn't do that crepey creasey thing unless I put too much on. I have a very hard time with powders under my eyes having them set the right way.

Those were my October favourites, i hope you enjoyed finding out what I have bern loving over the past month. In the comments below let me know what things you have been loving.

Speak to you all soon

Books and why I love them so!!

I have always loved reading, right from when I was a little girl. Some of my earliest memories are curled up on a chair reading " Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and stories from "The Worst Witch" series. Books have often seen me through some of the happiest times of my life to the saddest and most painful of times.

I can sometimes recall books that remind me of places I have been and events that have happened. There were times when books helped me to escape the not so good things that were happening in my day to day life and the characters in the books were like my new friends that would never yell at me or tease me or make me feel worthless.

Some of my favourite authors have been Jane Austen, Cecilia Ahern, JK Rowling, Roald Dahl, Steven King, Veronica Roth, the list goes on and on. In the past I loved chick lit books but nowadays I read all different types of genres, even sci fi books which I used to hate. I have written in the past about my all time favourite book which is "Little Women" by Louisa M Alcott.

I love books because if you cant afford to travel to far flung exotic places around the world, books can describe these places to you and sometimes the descriptions are so detailed and vivid that you feel you are there feeling the sand beneath your feet in the Nevada desert or smelling those fragrant spices in the Moroccan marketplace.

I love that books have become so accessible to everyone. I love my Kindle and love how a world of books are just at my fingertips. I never go a day without reading, whether it be the latest novel or the free Metro newspaper on the bus. Even at my age,  I love that I can still learn new things and delve into crime books and biographies and just broaden my knowledge.

There is nothing I love more than cuddling up in bed with a warm cup of hot chocolate and reading a good book, it really helps me to relax, especially if I have had a tough day.

I hope you have enjoyed reading this post and if you would like me to do book reviews on my blog, just let me know as maybe this could be a regular feature on here.

Have a great weekend

What A Waste!!!!

Today I started on clearing out some of my make up products that have been sat in my cupboards and drawers and have hardly been used. Yes! That's right "hardly been used". Nail polishes that had separated and all clogged up, lip glosses that smelt disgusting as soon as I opened the tube and mascaras that had dried up.

I was so thrilled to be making some room in my makeup storage and that inspired me to keep going but then that feeling faded and I was left with a feeling of embarrassment and anger. What have I been doing?

Make up and beauty products are not cheap and here I was looking at a pile of products that I had more than likely only used once or twice and spent on average £10 per product. So in 5 minutes of decluttering I had had to get rid of over £150 worth of stuff!

That is shocking and disgraceful. I could have spent that money toward decorating my house or toward a little holiday. I will NEVER go back to wasting my money like that. Yes, when i bought the products I totally loved them, loved the colours, the glitz and sparkle and gave me joy at the time but products do not make a fulfilled life if you are not going to use them and enjoy them.

Something happened to someone I cared about deeply over the past month and it totally refocused my thoughts on my life and what is important. PEOPLE are important not products.  I now have a new focus, and Im not going to be wasting my money and will be working hard to whittle down some of my beauty collection. Im only going to be keeping my Younique products .

Ive wasted my time and money on things that just dont matter in the grand scheme of things. Please learn from me, people and memories matter, the latest handbag or nail polish really dont if you arent going to use them.

Love and hugs

I'm Back!

Hi everyone.  I hope you are all well. I'm so sorry that I have been away for so long but unfortunately sometimes life and it's problems just get in the way. I have been on quite a journey since I last blogged, and let's just say, a lot of my priorities and passions have changed. I am now more inspired by cruelty free and products and minimalism. But more on that later in the week.

Now, don't get me wrong, I still love makeup and all things beauty but I am desperate to run my own business from home and to try and so I have started up selling Younique makeup, and have cut right back on buying other brands.

I have only been doing it just over a month so far and it is going pretty well so fingers crossed it carries on like that.

Another change is going to be my blog, I am going to be changing it to more of a daily diary of what is going on in my life and my ups and downs I am going through. Hopefully this allow you to get a more closer view of me and get to know me much more.

I have really missed blogging and chatting to all of my subscribers so hopefully I can gain more followers on here again too. I hope you are glad to see me back, and I cant wait to talk to you again tomorrow.

My latest Yankee Candle haul

Candles, candles everywhere is the phrase going through my mind lately. I love them and just cannot get enough of them. I just love how they can instantly change the look and feel of a room when lit, and really help you feel relaxed with the different scents available. Some people love different scent categories, for example, some like fruity, some like fresh, clean scents, some people like more musky fragrances or floral. But for me, I don't really have a certain "type" of scent. I just love all of them. I love how a fragrance can instantly transport you back to a moment in your past and you can relive those memories. For example in this latest Yankee Candle collection from QVC, there are some candles from Egypt, and Africa, and these instantly took me back to when I visited Egypt many years ago.

I love the carry holdall, that this set came in. Its very nautical in its look with the blue and white stripes and the white woven handles. The first layer holds 12 votive size candles, and the fragrances I recieved were

1-Kilimanjaro Stars, which has a gorgeous musky fragrance and really reminds me of a mans aftershave. A really lovely scent.
2-Tahitian Tiare Flower which is very fresh and clean smelling with just a hint of floral notes to it.
3-Madagascan Orchid, which is really strong in its fragrance, it has a gorgeous perfume type smell to it.
4-Ocean Star is a fresh, clean scent and very relaxing and really nice when used in the bathroom while you are having a pamper session.
5-Egyptian Musk is another quite manly scent, and is perfect for a girl/lady who isnt too fond of the sweeter fragrances that a lot of candles can have.
6-Serengeti Sunset is quite citrussy smelling and reminds me of how you imagine it would smell if you were walking through an orange/lemon grove.
7- Sea Coral is a clean and fresh smell, but has a little touch of coconut to it.
8- Pink Hibiscus which is a beautiful flowery scent, and is gorgeous. One of my all time favourites.

With some of the candles in the set, they duplicated some of them so the ones that I had spare of, I gave them to my mom for all the help she gives me in looking after my little boy. Under the top layer of votives,  were 2 votive holders in the shape of glass buckets, and 12 scented tea lights in Beach Holiday and 12 scented tealights in Wild Seagrass.
I lust adored everything about this collection and look forward to burning them. Here is a photo of the outside of the holdall that the candles arrived in.

I love these sets from QVC UK, you don't even have to keep them as a whole set, they make fantastic gifts for birthdays and Christmas, 3 or 4 candles put into a little gift bag with some pretty tissue paper and you have a perfect present. Also, I buy Yankee Candles because you know that the fragrance is going to be there. Yes, you probably can get cheaper candles, from Poundland and Wilkinson, but for me the scent throw off just isn't there, and I would prefer paying more money for candles that you know you can rely on in terms of the strength of the scent given off.

I hope you have enjoyed this post, and yes next week there will be yet another candle haul, as my next set of the 3 large Yankee Candle jars have arrived, so stay tuned for my post all about those.

Till next time,
