October Empties

October Empties

Well, it reached the middle of this month and I really didn't think I was going to have anything to put in this blog post. All I had finished was this shower gel.
This seemed to take me ages to finish as you only needed a tiny amount on your shower puff and it lathered up beautifully. I also have the matching body butter but I am nowhere near finished with that yet. Then in the last 2 days I had finished quite a few things.

This primer I recieved in this months Glossybox. I was quite impressed as I dont religiously use face primers but this was lovely, smelt of lemongrass and smoothed out the skin beautifully. It was only a small bottle  but lasted me a good 2 weeks.

Now you will get a picture of a toothpaste in every months empties lol, because with me and my little boy we go through quite a bit. Its a boring empty but a necessity, wouldn't you all agree?!? But this is a really nice toothpaste and not too minty, as my son calls it "too spicy" if it tastes too strongly of mint. But he always wanted to go and clean his teeth with this one which is a bonus, as every parent knows.

Now, this was a very sad moment for me, as my beloved holy grail perfume "Alien" by Thierry Mugler ran out this month. I totally love this perfume, it was strong, and quite a musky scent but I loved it. Every time I wore it I got people asking "what perfume are you wearing?" or compliments like "you smell nice". It is expensive but so very worth it. I would like to buy myself some more but I have about 30 other perfumes on my cabinet that I need to use up before they go off.

These facial cleansing wipes, in my opinion are some of the best on the market. They have no fragrance so they are suitable for sensitive skin, they are gentle but totally removed all of my makeup even stubborn mascara, without making my eyes sting. They are very reasonably priced as well between £2-£4 depending on which store you buy them from and if there are any special deals on them.

Well, that was my October empties. I hoped you enjoyed reading about them and maybe given you ideas on what to buy in the upcoming month.

Happy Emptying

October 2013 favourites

October 2013 Favourites

Well, this is my first ever blog post of my monthly favourites, and as you can see from the picture above there are quite a few of them. I tried to reduce the amount down, but, well i just couldn't. I love them.

Lorac Pro Palette

This palette is gorgeous for autumny looks, neutral looks and smoky looks. The deep orange and purple I have used a lot to create eyeshadow looks. The shadows are very pigmented and you only need a tiny amount on your brush, as a little goes a very long way.

Max Factor 3 in 1 foundation.

This foundation from the very first time I used it, I LOVED it. It is extremely opaque and gives a beautiful, flawless appearance to the skin.

Harmony face primer
This primer I recieved in my Octobers Glossybox. I was very dubious about this product at first as I am a relative newbie to the whole face primer "thing". But to be honest, i was pleasantly surprised. It may only appear small but I used it religiously for 2 weeks and it did make my foundation glide more smoothly onto the skin. It did have a very strong lemongrass smell but I don't mind that, to me it just smelt fresh.

The Balm's Nudetude palette

This palette has been quite the staple these last few weeks. It has just the right balance of soft neutrals and deep dark rich colours to create a wide range of beautiful looks.

I have tended to use more of the lighter colours for a more neutral effect for day looks whilst Im at work. The shadows can be a little powdery and you can get a little fall out, but as long as you tap off the excess off your brush you will be fine.

Mac's Sheer Plum lipstick (from the Venomous Villains collection)
Now, from the name of it you would think that this lipstick would be a plum/purple colour. But it isn't. its a browny , orange colour that cooordinates beautifully with the colours in Nature which is all around us.

Mac's Craving lipstick

This lipstick has been in my collection for a while, but it is a staple that when I cant decide on which lipstick to use I always fall back to this one. A deep maroon/burgundy colour that instinctively brightens up any outfit or make up look you may be trying to achieve.

Maybelline's The Rocket Mascara

I cannot fault this mascara in anyway. It is FANTASTIC!!!!It gives you perfect volume and length to your eyelashes without making them look clumpy in any way. The mascara for me seems to be getting better the longer I have had it. The formula seems to have just slightly thickened up and just coats each lash perfectly.

Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer
This bronzer gives just the most beautiful colour when you are contouring your face. It can be built up to a very deep bronze look or it can just be applied to give you just a delicate flush of colour to your face.

Well, that is it for this months favourites. I hope you enjoyed it. Let me know in the comments what your October favourites are.

Happy Exploring

The "Do You ?" Tag

The "Do You?" Tag

I saw this on another bloggers page (I'm so sorry, cant remember whose page it was), but I thought it was a great tag, and would be fun to do. So let's get started.

Do you take your make up off every night?
Yes, definitely. I hate knowing that by leaving my makeup on could lead me to having more spots and acne problems than I have already (yes, even at the age of 36. I still get spots :(  ). Occasionally, if Im very very tired and just need to get to sleep I have left it on but then I have regretted it the next morning when I have looked in the mirror.

Do you put lip liner on before, or after your lipstick?
I am so lazy at lip liner that I hardly ever wear it. I only tend to wear it if I am going to be doing a bright red lip, for example Mac's Ruby Woo, and then I will put the Mac Cherry lip liner on before and then apply the Ruby Woo.

Do you peel your nail polish off ?
No, never. I have trouble keeping my nails chip free at any time so I would never try to ruin the look of my nails.

Do you use both base and top coat on your nails ?
I dont use base coat ever but I apply a top coat all the time, as I think it helps the nail polish to dry quicker and give them a beautiful shine that some nail polishes may lack in themselves. At the moment I am using a Sally Hansen top coat and it is really good. My next one I would like to try is the OPI Seche Vite top coat.

Do you curl your lashes before or after mascara?
I never, ever curl my lashes. I have tried in the past but I am such a wimp that even when the curler gets by my lashes I pull away. They look like such painful objects, it brings tears to my eyes when I watch beauty gurus in their videos curling their lashes, lol. Hopefully my mascaras work just enough to give a nice gentle curl to my lashes without using those lethal contraptions.

Do you wear mascara on your bottom lashes?
Yes, I do occasionally. It depends on what look I am going for. If it is a dark smoky eyed look then yes, lots and lots of mascara to make it look more smoky. But, if its a more natural wide awake look, then I dont tend to as it can make the eyes look a little more closed in.

Do you put your concealer on before or after your foundation?
I always put it on after my foundation as I think it lightens the area more and highlights it. Whereas if you put the concealer on before your foundation, then there is a chance that whilst applying your foundation with your sponge or brush you can be taking the concealer away from that area you wanted to conceal.

Do you like minty lip gloss?
Yes, I do. I think they tend to feel like they make your lips look plumper with the minty tingly sensation.

Do you floss your teeth?
I hope my sister never reads this, as she is a dental nurse, but no, I never do. I am lazy in that department too. I think as long as you brush your teeth really well morning and night, and use mouthwash, there is never any need to use floss as well.

Do you physically exfoliate your face?
Yes I do. I use scrubs mainly 2 or 3 times a week depending on how well my skin is appearing that day. I wouldn't recommend using them more than that as I feel it can leave the skin too sensitive and cause more harm than good.

Do you like a matte, satin or dewy look to your skin?
I love my face to appear very matte and flawless. I like a full coverage foundation and good powder as I have a very oily T zone, and this can appear oily within 2-3 hours of foundation being applied. So totally matte is the look I try to achieve when I am applying my makeup for the day.

Do you brush your teeth before or after drinking your morning coffee?
After my coffee as I cant stand the taste of anything for a good long while after I have cleaned my teeth. I have my morning coffee and my breakfast before cleaning my teeth.

Do you get dressed before or after putting on your makeup?
I get dressed before putting on my makeup. That way there wont be the risk of me getting my makeup smudged or all over my uniform for work.

Do you put on your eye makeup or your face makeup first?
I know I shouldn't, but I always put on my face makeup first because I always worry that if I put on my eye makeup first, when I go to blend my foundation in,  I'm going to smudge my eye liner or mascara and have to start all over again. If I do tend to get any eye shadow fall out I either wipe it away quickly with a cotton bud, or  get some loose face powder, and quickly sweep it under my eyes to clean all the excess shadow away.

Do you smile enough?
No, probably not. I am a worrier and so tend to look very serious when I don't mean to be. I should smile more as people have said I have a lovely smile.

Well, that's it for now. If you have read this and enjoyed it, then I tag you to do this post and I would love to read your answers.

Shopping spree

Shopping Spree

Well, you didn't expect me to go a few weeks without make-up shopping did you? That would be a crime, a dreadful awful crime that will never be committed by me . I know my bank account doesn't appreciate it, but well, when there is all the gorgeousness of all the new products coming out, what's a girl to do.

It started off quietly enough, wandering round Debenhams, just quietly perusing the aisles until my eyes fell upon the ultimate in palettes at the moment, the Urban Decay Vice 2 palette!!!!

I was so excited I think I ran to the counter and grabbed the first one. I opened it up and just look at all the beautiful deliciousness there is inside

It is just gorgeous. Then the assistant came over and said if I spent £50 in store today I would get a £10.00 gift card back!!!! Wow!! That was it then I just had to get another of my favourite eyeliners then.

So that was Debenhams done. I then trotted over to Superdrug and bought a limited edition Max Factor False Eyes Mascara, and 2 of the new Rimmel Moisture Renew lipsticks. So I will be trying those out and giving you first impressions and swatches of course. Since I've got the Max Factor mascara home, I am a little concerned that the limited edition part is only on the plastic wrapping covering the mascara, Im hoping that the mascara tube is covered in the design too. Otherwise that will be a fail on my part as I dont want just the same mascara as I already have in my collection.

Then, last place to look in was Boots. I have been dying to get my hands on 2 nail polishes that are frequently mentioned by Gurus all over You Tube. They are Essie's After School Boy Blazer and Orly's Rage, I was so pleased to be able to get them both. Nothing else really caught my eye. I even wandered around the Christmas department, and there was nothing that I wanted. So with that, made my way up to the till and because I had so many points on my Boots advantage card I was bale to purchase the nail polishes with my points and so in effect got them for free.
Dont you just love a bargain???

Hope you enjoyed reading this. Let me know what you get on your shopping sprees.

Love and hugs

Product Rave: Boots Tea Tree and Witch Hazel Cleansing & Toning Lotion

Boots Tea Tree and Witch Hazel Cleansing And Toning Lotion

As you can see from the picture above I have used half of this cleanser and toner and thought that at this point in time I could give you an accurate review of it.

There is 150mls of product in the plastic container and the price on the Boots website is £3.59.

It is described as deeply cleansing and refreshing and helps keep skin clear and healthy.

To be honest I can say this product is AMAZING!!!!!

I applied this product on a small round of cotton wool, just a few drops and then just smooth the cotton wool pad over my face and neck. Straight away it removed foundation, lipstick and eye makeup with out any real pressure applied. Normally with other cleansers I have had to really scrub at the eye makeup especially mascara to try and remove it.

It leaves my skin feeling fresh, and squeaky clean. There is quite a strong smell of tea tree to this product but that does not put me off from using it. To me that just makes my skin smell clean.

I think it has good value for money too, as I have been using it for approx 2 - 3 weeks and have only used half of it.

I hope this review has been helpful, and you go out and try it.

Happy Cleansing

I Love Fall/Autumn Tag

I Love Autumn/Fall Tag

Hi Guys, I saw this tag going round Youtube and thought it might be fun to recreate in a blog post. If you enjoy it, I tag all of you to recreate it and let me know what answers you would put.

1) Favourite Fall Lip Product

This one is easy. It has to be Mac's Craving Lipstick. Its a rich burgundy/mauve colour and is so complimentary to every skin tone.

2) Favourite Fall Nail Polish

This year I have loved Essie's Sole Mate. Like the lipstick above its a deep burgundy, and is a classic colour that every girl should have in their nail polish wardrobe.

3) Favourite Starbucks drink?

To be fair, I only started drinking this last year as I saw so many people raving about it on Youtube, and that is the Pumpkin Spice Latte. Oh. its delicious. Got a definite spice kick to it though.

4) Favourite fall candle?

I love Autumny candles, anything that smells of pumpkin, or cinnamon is a definite winner for me. I also this year found a new scent which is the Yankee Candle in Spiced Orange which smells delicious and which my 8 year old little boy really likes too.

5) Would I prefer to go in a haunted house or a haunted corn maze?

Well, I have never heard of a haunted corn maze. So my answer would have to be the Haunted House. My guilty secret is that in my spare time I love going ghost hunting and have often gone off on my own in the pitch black to see if I can communicate with any spirits.

6) Favourite Halloween Movie ?

Im a real scaredy cat when it comes to Horror Movies and normally I wont watch them as they really scare me but the only ones I do watch are The Exorcist, Paranormal Activity and Thirteen Ghosts.

7) Favourite Sweets on Halloween

Hmm, this got me thinking as I do like a lot of sweets but I like BonBons or Chocolate Eclairs.

8) What are you going to be for Halloween ?

Im going to be a let down for this question as I'm not going to be dressing up. But, my little boy dressed up for his Halloween disco at school and he went as a skeleton pirate.

9) Favourite thing about Autumn/Fall?

I love watching all the leaves changing colour and being able to cosy up in front of the fire at home with candles on enjoying a nice mug of hot chocolate.

Well, I hope you all enjoyed reading this tag/post, and I look forward to reading all your answers.

Happy Autumn

My top 10 Autumn/Fall nail polishes 2013

Normally I  am not one to worry about what colours I should wear on my fingernails. I tend to just wear what I feel like at that point in time. But over the last few weeks I have noticed that I am being drawn to all of the more autumny colours, rich burgundy's, gold's and burnt oranges.

Here are my top 10 polishes that I have been reaching for the most.

This is Essie's Penny Talk. It is a beautiful unique metallic gold polish but then when it hits certain lights, the true copper/bronze flashes through.

Above is Ciate's Island Hopping PP098. It is a burnt orange with a gorgeous gold shimmer running through it. In some lights though it can look quite red.

This polish is a cult favourite within the Youtube Community, it is called "You Don't Know Jacques".It is a beautiful cream chocolate polish with hints of taupe running through it.

This Barry M nail polish is a very recent addition to my nail polish collection. It is called Berry Cosmo and is a delicious rich burgundy creme colour and it looks very elegant when you are wearing it. I have recieved many compliments from customers when I am serving them in the shop.

I absolutely love the Essie Stylenomics nail polish. It is a blackened green and when looked at quickly, you almost think that it is just a black polish, but then occasionally you get a flash of teal and green peeping out. Very pretty polish.

This Technics polish came in a set of nail polishes that I recieved for Christmas last year. Unfortunately they dont come with colour names or numbers but it is such a beautiful gold colour, and it looks even better when painted onto your nails. It is a metallic shade and could have only needed 1 coat as it was very opaque when I applied it, but I always like to apply 2 coats.

Unfortunately this Nails Inc nail polish really does not photograph very well, but its called Heddon Street and is a beautiful burgundy red colour. It has just subtle pink and purple shimmers running through it.

I totally adore the Sally Hansen Haute Chocolate polish. It is a beautiful duochrome polish with a red/burgundy base but then which ever way you turn to face the light, you get blues, and golds and purple shades shining through. When you first look at it, it looks quite a boring colour but it is totally decieving.

The above nail colour is L'Oreal's Beige Boheme 107. It is a creamy nude with a hint of rose pink in it, it is a very flattering colour to wear. It is a good choice for those who cant wear bright nail polish to their workplace.

Last but by no means least is Essie's Recessionista. Its simply gorgeous. Bright pink and Burgundy shade with a deep purple base. So lovely and I highly recommend.

Well, thats my top 10 nail colours for Autumn/Fall. Let me know whether you like these colours or what your favourites are.

Hair Oils - Are they worth the hype ?

Lately it seems like all the big names in the hair industry have all released some sort of hair oil. You name it, they make one. Here are just some

When they were first introduced I was not going to give in and buy one, as I have very fine and greasy/oily prone hair. I thought adding more oil to my hair would just add to the problem and just make it look like a huge mess.

Also, being just out on the market the prices were quite high, averaging at least £7.99 and I felt that it just was not worth the expense.

Eventually, what with seeing how bad the ends of my hair were and how well they were selling in the store I work in and hearing people rave about them on YouTube I decided to put my hand in my pocket and try one for myself. The first one I tried was the L'Oreal Elvive oil. I washed and conditioned my hair, brushed the tangles out and then applied 2 pumps of the oil.

I will admit I was a little concerned at first as my hands felt very oily and slippery. But after a couple of uses I was hooked. My hair was much smoother and sleeker, and I had compliments off both friends and work colleagues how nice my hair was looking.

Since then I have bought a few different oils and  I have enjoyed using them. They more or less have the same lovely effect on my hair and will definitely keep using them.

I try not to use them every day, but just when I think that my hair needs a little more nourishment than usual.  I have also done a more intense condition when I have coated about half the length of my hair in the oil and then wrapped my head in a towel to keep the heat in and really intensify the effect of the oil on to my hair.

Overall, I would highly recommend hair oils to anyone. I feel that they are definitely worth the money and definitely improve hair texture and shine.

Let me know in the comments below if you use hair oils and whether you like them or whether you think they aren't worth the hype.

Product Rave of the Week: Rimmel Stay Matte Powder

Hey everybody

Hope this blog finds you all well and you have had a good week.

This week I thought I would talk about one of my favourite products, which is the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder. I love love love this product. Its very cheap at £3.99 and can be found at most chemists and Supermarkets. It comes in a wide range of colours, although unfortunately haven't found many for darker skin tones.

I use the shade Transparent 001 and it is great. It can be applied either with a brush or a sponge. I use a cosmetic sponge as I find it gives a more mattifying look. I have oily/combination skin and so by the middle of the day, my T-Zone can look quite shiny. So I like to carry this powder around with me during the day so that I can touch up my makeup whenever needed.

This powder really does give a beautiful seam free appearance to the skin and never appears cakey.

I would say the only negative to this product is the packaging as the lid can become quite loose and can sometimes come off in my make up bag. But overall I would give this product a 10/10 as I believe it is one of the best pressed powders you can buy.

I hope you enjoyed reading this review, and let me know which is your favourite pressed powder.

Love and hugs

Would you rather (Beauty edition)

Hi everyone,

I saw this post do the rounds on YouTube a few months back and thought this might be fun to do as one of my blog posts. Hope you enjoy and let me know in the comments what you would rather do.

Enjoy

1)Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks and lipglosses, OR lose all of your palettes and eyeshadows?

Well, for me I would be ok with losing my mascaras and eyeliners etc, because I have some quite expensive palettes and to replace those would be a bigger cost than to replace lipsticks and eyeliners as you can pick them up quite cheaply in the local chemists.

2)Would you rather chop off all of your hair or never be able to cut it again?

I would never cut it again as I love my long hair and I know I would regret it if I cut it.

3)Do you prefer a coral blush or a pink blush?

I prefer a pink blush, as to me it looks more natural, but I guess it would depend on the colour of the outfit and other makeup I was wearing

4)If you had £1,000 to spend, would you rather buy clothes or makeup?

Definitely makeup, without a shadow of a doubt. I hate clothes shopping to be fair and much prefer to buy makeup.

5)Would you rather apply lipstick as an eyeliner or eyeliner as a lipstick?

It would be much easier to apply eyeliner as a lipstick and there would be more colour range to choose from. Also, if you use lipstick near the eye it would go all sticky and nasty, so that would so not be a good look.

6)Would you rather only shop at Mac or Sephora?

Well, being in the UK there are no Sephoras near me (unfortunately), so I would have to say Mac as they are more readily available. But if Sephora was in the Uk, Sephora because they carry lots of makeup brands that I would love to purchase.

7)Would you rather only use one eyeshadow colour or one lipstick colour for the rest of your life?

One lipstick colour because I love my eyeshadows too much and I love to use bright colours and experiment with different looks all the time.

8)Would you rather wear winter clothes in summer or summer clothes in winter?

Winter clothes in Summer because I feel the cold very very easily and so it would not bother me to wear jumpers and sweatshirts all year round,

9)Would you prefer to have dark nails or bright nails all year round?

Dark nails as I love my dark colours like OPI's Lincoln Park after Dark or Essie's Sole Mate.

10)Would you rather give up your favourite lip or eye product?

My favourite lip product as I find it hard to have a favourite lipstick as I like so many.

11)Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a ponytail or a messy bun?

In a messy bun as that is one of my favourite looks anyway.

12)Would you rather never be able to paint your nails again or never use lipgloss?

Never use lipgloss as I dont wear it all that often as I find it too sticky and gloopy. I love to paint my nails all the time, and change my nail colour 3 or 4 times a week.

13)Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none at all or pencil them in?

Pencil them in, I think someone would look very odd if you had no eyebrows. They can be a very good feature of the face to use, and can be made to look soft or dramatic depending on the look you are going for.

14)Would you rather live without nail polish or makeup?

This is such a hard choice but I guess it would have to be nail polish as I could not go outside with no makeup on every day
