December 2014 Favourites feat. Maybelline, Too Faced, Urban Decay, Stila and Yankee Candles

Today I wanted to share with you some products that I have truly loved over the past four weeks or so. It has really been quite a simple month for me, where I have been mainly focusing on a gold glitter eye look and a bronzed cheek.  To be honest, nothing else has really stood out where I have thought I have to put this in my monthly favourites and so, this post will be short and sweet. I am in total love with the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette. I have had this palette for a good while now but I just keep reaching for it time and again. I love that it is a palette with such a range of diverse colours that you can literally create hundreds of different looks with it, even down to using a little fix plus sprayed on your brush, and then dipped into any of the different colours and using them as eye liners too.

I have used the gold shimmery shades the most, and I have tried something different as my inner corner highlight, by using the pale pink in the middle row fourth from the left. This really brightens up any look, even the deepest smokiest shadows by just bringing a little pop of pale pink. There are great blending out shadows in the matte browns too.

I know, I know I have spoken about Stila's Kitten eyeshadow before but it is just so gorgeous and gives your total make up look a pop of glitter and was totally in sync with all the christmassy glittery decorations that were surrounding us over the past month. I also love it, because it doesn't drop glitter all over your cheeks as some shadows with the glitter in have a tendency to do.. The last shadow that I have only recently discovered when I was searching through my eyeshadow palette collection  and that is Urban Decays' Midnight Cowgirl. It is very, very similar to Stila's Kitten but I had to include it into my favourites.

First of all, can I just give a shout out to the beautiful packaging of this palette, it is just so gorgeous, and girly. Midnight Cowgirl is more of a  yellow gold glitter eye shadow whereas Stila's Kitten is more of a beige toned gold glitter. But both are equally beautiful and when I have worn them, I have always recieved comments on how nice my eye make up looks that day.

I have been wearing more bronzers this past month than blushers and two in particular have really stood out to me. One is a high street bronzer and the other is a little more high end. Maybelline's Dream Sun Bronzer is a really beautiful brown, and isnt too orange on me, which some bronzers can turn. This bronzer is extremely pigmented and so you only need to tap your bronzer brush into the powder, just very lightly and that will give you enough colour for your look.

As you can probably tell from the picture I haven't touched the blush part as of yet, but I am sure this pretty peachy coral blush will get lots of use in the upcoming Spring and Summer months. The other bronzer I have loved for a long time is the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil bronzer. The fact that it smells of chocolate and cocoa the minute you open is only a small part of why I love it. This is a true brown bronzer, and as with the previous product you only need the tiniest amount to create the perfect bronzed cheek.

I love that it comes with a mirror too, so that if any touch ups are needed during the day, you have a mirror handy to use. The last product I have totally fallen in love with this past month is a Yankee Candle. I was lucky enough to recieve the Yankee Candle Advent Calender as a gift, and so every day I would get a tea light in a variety of fragrances. There were 5 that were in the calender, and the one that I have been burning non stop is Cranberry Ice.

It is a very sweet smelling tea light, but I love those types of fragrances and as soon as I smelt this I was in love. I have nearly used all of this fragrance up, and will be on the look out for a bigger version of it too, as it has quickly reached my top ten of favourite Yankee scents. I was very dubious in the past about how long the tea lights would last and whether they were worth the money in purchasing them. But I have found they have lasted 8-10 hours each and so I think that is really good for a small tea light. I totally recommend looking out for this fragrance when you are at a Yankee Candle stockist.

Well, that is this month's favourites. Have I mentioned any of your favourites? Let me know in the comments below. I love to read all of your comments and suggestions. So please feel free to share your favourites with me too.

Love and Hugs.

My Top 5 Hair Products of 2014

This year I can definitely say that I have really tried all different sorts of brands of hair care products, everything from the cheapest of the cheap at the pound shop, to bottles of shampoo priced £20 or more from designer hair care brands. In the past I have just stuck to what I knew worked best for my hair from one brand, but I have realised in the past 12 months that sometimes, that can just work in a negative way as your hair then gets used to it, and therefore the products do not work as effectively.  So, to end the year I am doing a round up of all my favourite hair products that I have tried in the past 12 months and this hopefully may give you some different ideas of products to try on your hair too.

My favourite overall brand of the year without fail has to be Tresemme. I just love their shampoos and conditioners and styling products.
They just cleanse my hair so well, and I know that they do not leave my hair feeling dull or lifeless. Whenever I have felt a little bit down about the look of my hair, a shampoo and condition from the Tresemme range and my hair feels back to normal again. Because sometimes, no matter how clean you think you wash your hair on a day to day basis, the build up of products, from serums to heat protectants to styling sprays can all take their toll, and so just a quick wash with the Tresemme Deep Cleansing shampoo ( the black bottle with the green band on) removes all that build up straight away.

A shampoo discovery this year has been the Bumble and Bumble range. Now dont get me wrong, this is a high end brand of haircare, and so if you are looking to tighten those purse strings then this is not the range for you. But, the shampoo is just amazing and so luxurious feeling when using it, that I would recommend it to anyone.
You don't need to use a lot as I found that a little goes a long way, and it really does help your hair to look and feel thicker. I take a lot of medication daily, and so this can really play havoc on my hair, as it is constantly falling out in clumps and really thin and dull, but this helps to make my hair look richer in appearance than it actually is.

A surprise favourite is a dry shampoo. Namely the Batiste dry shampoo for dark and deep brown shades.

In the past I had tried the original Batiste shampoo and I had hated it. I applied it and no matter how much I tried to rub it into the roots of my hair, I always felt that I had a grey cast over the colour of my hair and really felt like I looked like someone had tipped a bag of flour over my head. But this dry shampoo is coloured and so no longer leaves that grey colour. I love it, and feel much more confident in going out on those days when you just do not have time to wash your hair. I jusr spray a few spritzes of this at the roots, give my hair a quick scrub and BAM!! You have clean hair and no greasy roots.

With my hair in a little bit of need for TLC, I have been enjoying deep conditioning masks, and the one that has been my go to for a good few months now is the Charles Worthington Moisture Mask
I apply this to damp hair, wrap my hair in a towel and leave it on for a good 10 -15 minutes, then rinse it out, and my hair feels soft, the split ends dont look as bad, and it feels in a lovely condition once I have styled it. I really enjoy using this product and is well worth the money.

Last of all is a styling product that I love. This is the Tresemme Extra Hold hairspray
Now don't get me wrong, I do love my L'Oreal Elvive hairspray and I know I have used that a lot this year, but this one has got to be my favourite as it has amazing hold, but the amount you get in the can is 500mls, and this lasts me forever. It is exceptional value for money and holds every style I create wthout being too sticky and crunchy, and you are still able to brush it out at the end of the day without causing too much bother.

Well, that is my top 5 hair products of 2014, please let me know in the comments below, what your favourite hair products have been this year, and if you have any suggestions of new products you think I should try.

Till next time,

What I recieved for Xmas 2014

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. In this post I thought I would talk to you about the lovely presents and gifts I recieved from my family. On Christmas Day I was spending the day at my parents house and at 10.30 my dad took me to their house. Daniel was at his dad's house till 3 pm and so I was missing him very badly.

When I got to my parents house, it was such a Christmassy atmosphere with everyone opening presents, wrapping paper everywhere and Christmas Carols playing on the stereo. It was so lovely being with family and spending time together.  Daniel had given me a Hot Chocolate mug with it's own little sweater on it and a sachet of hot chocolate with it. Which I have since drunk and it was delicious. It even came with it's own little whisk too. He also got me a top from Next (with a little help from my mom) which is gorgeous and I will get lots of use out of in the warmer months.

Off my nan and parents I recieved money,  a beautiful pink jumper which I cannot wait to start wearing, some thick socks, as my feet are always so cold. Some gingerbread Yankee candles, some felt tip pens, which I will get a lot of use out of as I love to colour and The Wizard Of Oz dvd, as I had lost my previous copy and it is one ofmy favourite films of all time. I also had chosen a new winter coat when we had been to Not cutts Garden Centre a few weeks before. It is bright pink in colour, and will definitely help me to stand out from the crowd.

Off my sister I was especially spoiled, I felt so bad as I had not got her as many presents as she had got me, and I know its the thought that counts but it still made me feel terrible. She gave me a Gordon Ramsey cookbook, which I loved as I have started to cook from fresh rather than relying on microwave meals, and I am really enjoying it. There look some amazing meals that I want to try out in the new year.

One thing that I was surprised by, and had never seen anything like it before was a hair band bauble that you could hang on your xmas tree and use it as a decoration as well as a present. It did look so pretty with the gold and silver.

Normally every Xmas, I recieve a lot of beauty items, but this year I only recieved the one and it was a Bare Minerals set, and it looks gorgeous and I cannot wait to try it out. Don't worry, I will definitely do a review of it once I have used it a few times. It had a blush, lipgloss, powder and concealer in side. The lipgloss looks a lovely colour, and I love their lipglosses so I am sure I will love this one too.
My partner purchased some Younique make up brushes which I forgot to photo, and they are lovely and soft, which really help to apply the make up smoothly. I love them. His mom bought me a lovely candle from Avon.

Such a pretty colour and by the size of the candle, will no doubt last for many weeks. I also recieved many boxes of chocolates and biscuits too, which I am going to try and limit how many I eat every day, because I am still on my Slimming World lifestyle. I was very lucky to recieve so many lovely things and am very thankful to everyone.I hope you all had a lovely time too. Let me know in the comments below, what you recieved for Christmas or if you have written a blog post about your gifts, please leave your link below and I will be only too happy to pop along to your page and read all about your special day.

Review: Mememe Cosmetics The Ultimate Plum Palette*

If you have been a reader of mine for a while, you will know that I have been very lucky to have been given some products from Mememe Cosmetics for review. I love Mememe Cosmetics and their products are outstanding quality for money. When I was sent this product from the company I was absolutely thrilled as I love eyeshadows and palettes. These are my weakness and what I spend the most money on and what catches my eye the most.

There are 8 colours in total to choose from and really are fantastic for a dark smokey eye.The colours are all really pretty in the palette and range from quite pale neutrals to pinks and purples to a sparkly grey and black. The shadows are very soft and buttery to apply, but when applied too harshly they can blend away into nothing so be careful with your blending. The palette also comes with a dual ended eyeshadow brush, and a mirror incorporated into the lid, and so perfect for using whilst on the go.

There are 3 matte shades which are great for blending the shades into the crease, and then 5 shimmery shades to catch and reflect the light, perfect for this party season.

I have found that the shadows do swatch darker than what they appeared in the palette, and so a very light hand is needed when using the different colours. I did get a little fallout but that is easily remedied with a tiny swipe of a baby wipe or a little loose powder swept under the eyes to remove the excess shadow. This palette is £13.50 on www.mememecosmetics.com For 8 eyeshadows this is great value for money, and I recommend you visiting their website to check out their other products they have on sale too.

I hope you have enjoyed this post, and let me know if you treat yourself to this palette.

Till next time,

The Soap and Glory Limited Edition Box Set 2014

Every year without fail, I have to treat myself, when Boots have their star gift of the week. I wait for one of my favourite brands, Soap and Glory to release their limited edition gift box. This is highly anticipated every time it is released, and you have to act fast, and be on the ball to get yourself one. So on the morning it was released I was up at 6 am, and online to make sure I guaranteed myself one. I panicked the first time as my order would not go through and i was convinced that they were all sold out, but second time lucky the order went through and I breathed a sigh of relief.Normally these sell out like hot cakes, and this year was no exception, I think they had sold out online within 6 hours!!!

Unlike previous years, this years box had 2 different designs, a pink and yellow flower type of design if you purchased the box in store, or the leopard type print if you ordered online. I thought the online version was much more me, so went for the leopard print design. Once the lid of the box was removed, all of the products were housed in a pink linen cloth bag, with a  black drawstring ribbon.
A different inclusion in the products were facial wipes, which have not been in any of the boxes before and I have loved using these in the past, but found them extremely difficult to get hold of and so stopped using them.
I have grouped the similar products together so this post is not too photo heavy. Let me just say that I love the Orangeasm body wash, as that is what I am using in the shower at the moment and it is just so clean and zingy smelling that it really wakes you up.in the morning. I have never used the Whipped Clean and so cannot wait to try it out, I am sure it will be just as luxurious and beautiful as all of the other Soap and Glory products I have tried before. The Sugar Crush Body Scruc is amazing and smells even more refreshing (if that is even possible) that the Orangeasm body wash. The granules in it are really small too, so it does not srcatch or irritate your skin whilst using it. I hate it when scrubs have the large grains in them and they really hurt when you try to apply the scrub to your body.
Heel Genius is a lovely foot cream, and really leaves your feet super soft, especially if you use it at night, apply a thick layer over your feet, then put on cotton socks and go to sleep and when you wake up in the morning your feet are so incredibly soft and silky feeling. The Righteous Butter is a holy grail body butter for me. It is beautiful. A lot thicker than your average body lotion but oh, so luxurious feeling, especially when you know it is a relatively cheap drugstore price point. Everyone should definitely try this body lotion out. The Hand Dream I have never tried before, which is nice as it allows you to have the tried and trusted in your collection but then allows you to try new products too. Just look at the size of the Butter Yourself Moisture Lotion!!! It is huge and will definitely last me several months using it every day. See what I mean, this box is such a great deal for your money, as the size of the products in there are all full size, for such a low price.
The two make up items in the box, are the Thick and Fast mascara, which I will be honest, I have not loved in the past, but I am willing to give it another try and see if I can get a better effect with it this time. The Soap and Glory lip glosses are incredible, and this will be my third tube. They are very plumping and do make your lips tingle when wearing it, but the tingle dies down after a few minutes.
Here is another look at the design of the box. Isn't it just so cute and vintage looking. I love it so much.

I hope that you have enjoyed reading this post, if you havent already tried the  Soap and Glory range then I highly suggest you do, they are such lovely products.

The New MakeUp Geek Foiled Eyeshadows Haul

MakeUp Geek can do no wrong in my eyes. Granted I have only tried their normal range of eyeshadows so far and I totally love them, they are such a gorgeous shadow, so pigmented and easy to blend and are in my top ten of my favourite shadow brands. I really want to try their blushes and eye liners too but when I got an email saying that Marlena (the lovely lady that founded MakeUp Geek) had released her 10 new foiled eyeshadows I just knew I had to order them straight away.

Now, I will say that because you have to pay quite a bit of shipping and then customs charge on top ( nearly £20 just for that), the total expense cost me quite a bit, but I was so excited to try the shadows I just dismissed it. Also, I was disappointed with the way the eyeshadows were sent to me. I don't know why but I was expecting them to come all in their own special little palette, in my mind I just assumed (I know I should never assume) that they would. But they all just came in their little slip envelope tied together with a little silver twine, with nothing to put the shadows in!! So now I have to go purchase a z palette to display them in, extra expense on top. With the negatives out of the way, now onto the positives.

Oh my word, they are super soft, so soft in fact that on one of the shadows when I swatched it, I accidentally pressed my finger in too hard, and put a big dent in it, oops!! The colours are truly beautiful ranging from gorgeous brights to neutrals, so there is definitely something for everybody. They are so eye catching and pretty that no doubt you will get some compliments on your eye look.  I will now show the actual colours and swatches, so that you can choose your favourite. On some of the photos the swatches don't come across as deep in colour as when you look at them in their pan, but they are still really beautiful. Please remember though that these are foiled shadows, and so if you are a matte eyeshadow lover, these won't be for you.

Aren't the colours beautiful? I love them, I have to say that Caitlin Rose, Flame Thrower and Showtime are my favourites. The way to apply them is to use your fingertips I have found, as using a brush just causes the shadows to crumble and not apply smoothly. The sheen on each of the shadows is truly lovely and although a little trickier to apply then other shadows, the effect they create is well worth the effort. You can get these shadows at http:// www.makeupgeek.com/ . I highly recommend them as they are a really special addition to my whole make up collection.

I hope you have enjoyed reading this post, and please let me know if there are Makeup Geek products that you own that you think I need to add to my collection too.

Love and Hugs
