Happy 1st Bloggerversary

Hi everyone. This week has been my blogs first birthday, and it has caused me to think about all the amazing things that have happened to me over the past 12 months because of my blog.

When I first started, as like you all  I had no idea where to start and what to write about. I had been reading all the big bloggers for a while and I wanted to be just like them, but my photos were not very good, and all had an orange tinge. But I kept plugging away and tried to do the best I could. I am not very good with computers, and so everytime I hit a problem I got frustrated and just felt like giving up.

I dreamed of having huge numbers of followers, and kept setting myself a little goal, for example getting to 10 followers, then 25 followers then 50. I was amazed everytime I hit the target and kept climbing and at the moment I am at a staggering 550 followers. My confidence has grown in meeting new people and pushing the boundaries that scared me and that kept me wanting to stay within the safe and secure four walls of my home.

In making my blog, I have made new friends which I am forever thankful for and have gone to four different events where I have spoke to people I have never met before and I have been able to visit places that I had never even dreamed I would get to go to. I have tried new make up and skincare brands that I have never used and found that I love them. I am learning tips and tricks with make up and beauty all the time, therefore deepening my knowledge base and this really helps my role at work, as I feel I can talk to the customers with more confidence.

I feel because of my blog I am developing myself as a person and I am enjoying what I am doing so much. At first I will admit, I just wanted to try and make money from my blog, and now I have realised that that will never happen, but now that does not really bother me, because I am doing something that I really love. If it does happen in the future then that would be great and I would love to be able to give up my regular job and blog full time, but until that time I will just keep happily typing away to my hearts content.

If you are reading this, and you are wanting to start a blog, but you dont have the courage to start, I say go for it, just try and you will be surprised at how far you can go.

Thankyou so much to all my followers and friends who read my blogs, you are all incredibly special to me, and you will never know how much your support means to me.

Here's to the next 12 months.

#Bhmbloggermeet 2014

As a beauty blogger, I have been so lucky to attend a few of these blogger meet ups, and this one I was invited to by the lovely Abbigayle at Stealstylist.com. We had received our invites a few weeks before, and the run up to the big event, I was so excited, but nervous at the same time.It was held at The Slug and Lettuce in Brindley Place in Birmingham, and it was a lovely area to hold the meet up in.

I met up with some of the other girls before the event and we had a walk around some of the stores, and then slowly made our way up to the venue. Once inside, the area where the meet was to be held, was decorated really beautifully with pink and white roses, and cupcakes that had #bhmbloggermeet spelled out on the icing.
Doesn't it look beautiful?

Once all the girls arrived, Abbigayle got straight down to business and spoke to us about what she had planned for the 2 hour meet up. We were all allocated a name badge and on that badge had a symbol, e.g a ring, or a teacup, or a square. We had to one at a time, say our name and then Abbigayle asked us a certain question depending on what our symbol was. I was fine, until she said my name, and my mind went totally blank and I couldn't think of a suitable answer to the question. Duh!! Trust me, my moment of fame and I stuffed it up,lol.

Then we all got to pick our goody bags, and they were totally amazing. In there were lots of lovely things, and an fantastic binder that Abbigayle had made all herself to help us keep on track with our blogs and information sheets to fill in to keep records and things. This is a god send to me, and will totally be helpful for me in trying to promote my blog even more. We then had to instagram our picture holding the binder. Yet again, my nerves came into play and I could not take a good picture and so asked the lovely Laura, who was sat next to me, if she could help me.
Another competition we had to take part in was we had to find a quote or saying to promote our blogs, and include the cupcake in it. My quote was
"cupcakes + makeup = the perfect day"
We then could instagram the picture and the quote that Abbigayle thought was the best would win a  prize. Luckily enough, we were able to eat the cakes after, and oh my days, they were delicious.

After this, we had a talk about Motives Cosmetics from the lovely Kirsty Lo, she brought some gorgeous samples for us to look at and test and one of them was an eyeshadow palette, that I totally fell in love with, and once I get enough money that will so be on my shopping list.
Look at that red shade, that is amazing for this time of year!!!

Then we had a tutorial from 2 girls from the Central School Of Make up, who showed us how to apply eyeliner correctly and tips and tricks to help us along the way, which was totally needed by me, as I am useless at eyeliner.
We then all took part in a Bloggers Trivia Quiz, and I was useless getting only 4 out of the 7 questions right. Two more games were played and it was food time. We had a lovely buffet, chicken, and chips, and hamburgers, and kebabs. It was delicious. I had such a lovely time at the blog meet, and have made loads of new friends and developed a little more confidence in being in a big group  of people.

Now onto the goody bags. This part will be photo heavy, as I wanted to show the amazing things we received from the wonderful companies who helped to enable the meet to take place.
The lovely canvas bag, the goodies came in.
The fantastic binder that is really going to help me meet my blog goals.
This was a lovely idea that Abbigayle included. We have to write lots of goals on different pieces of paper, fold them up, and put them in the jar. Once the jar is full, once a week, remove one piece of paper and try to attain that goal in that week. That way you will constantly be moving forward in your blog and in social media, because that plays such a vital and important role in promoting your blog.

This gorgeous photo and pencil from Dottie Rocks.

The lovely people at Lush in Birmingham sent us this big bag of products. I love Lush and their products, so this was gratefully received.

A gorgeous smelling hand cream and lip balm from Bee Good. I love natural products as they are just so much better for you than chemically saturated ones.
Look how cute this statement necklace is. It would look fantastic with a white tshirt and blue jeans and a black blazer.

You know me and my brushes, a girl can never have too many, so this brush will come in very handy.

Sampler perfumes from Colour Me Fragrances.
Last of all, we got a lip balm and some soap from Harlequin cosmetics. An entirely natural range of products, and the company is based in Birmingham.

Thankyou so much to Abbigayle for allowing me to take part in this wonderful meet up, and to the other girls who were there for making me feel included and making the day so special, last of all a big shout out and thankyous to the companies who sent us things to be tested.

I hope you have enjoyed reading this post.

Till next time,

September 2014 Glossybox

Look at how beautiful this month's Glossybox is. I was thrilled when I saw the design of it. So classy and chic, and an instant facelift to the traditional Glossy pink and black boxes we have grown to know and love. When you take the lid off, a cool mint green tissue paper hides all the delights in the box, and as always is tied closed with a pretty ribbon.

Once opened the three leaflets that are on top of the products, are one giving you an insight into Octobers Glossybox and a spoiler alert. The second one is a a £25 off voucher for an instore spend of £150 at Karen Millen, and the 3rd is just the normal product listing.

First up out of the box is a L'Oreal Professional hair masque. It is only a sample size, but there is enough in there to last a few uses. So I was well impressed with this product. The full size you would purchase is 200mls for £15.50, but this one is 75mls. All you need to do is to apply to towel dried hair  and leave on for 3 minutes and then rinse away.

Next were the Vichy Normaderm night detox and hydra care . From what I understand, is that this range of products is designed for adult blemishes, and lets face it, I am still having trouble with my spot prone skin at nearly the age of 40 and so these products are going to be perfect for me. Basically you just use them as you would a normal moisturiser and night cream, and so these will get plenty of use.Granted they are tiny samples and only contain 3 mls of product, and so not as big as I would have hoped, but I will test them and see how long they do last.
Now for me, this is the let down of the box. I do not do anything to my brows, and so dont need this product. It is a full size product and is £14.95 just for this alone, so in just this one item the whole Glossybox is paid for, and so all the others are free. This is why I love Glossybox so much, is the value for money. But although I won't use this product, I am sure I can find a friend who would like this product for free. I hate to throw products in the bin, if someone, somewhere can make use of it.

Get this, another full size product. This is the Nails Inc Westminster Bridge Matte top coat, I was so excited when I saw this in the box, as I love nail polishes that can alter the way other nail polishes can look, and so I am very excited to try this out.
These are enzyme and acid peel and peeling gel sachets. They contain pineapple and papaya extracts. They are designed to exfoliate the dead skin cells, and leave soft and brightened skin, I can't wait to try them out. These are very expensive products, because in the full size of 180mls it costs £89.99 to purchase them. So I am going to be very careful in my use of the products when I am opening the sachets.

I hope you have enjoyed this post about the Glossybox. I definitely recommend the monthly subscription box, you get so much value for money and the products that get picked out for you are always nice and you get good variety in what you get sent.

Let me know in the comments, if you have received the Glossybox this month and what you think of the products.

Till next time,

Get Healthy Weeks 3-6 :My Struggle

Hi everyone. I appreciate I have been lacking on these posts for the past 3 weeks. To be honest, I have really been struggling with my diet. I really thought when I started this, that because it was structured and I know that I have got to lose weight, that I would be more motivated to stick with it and stay on track. But it has been totally the opposite. The more the weeks have gone on, the harder I am finding it to not eat more and more bad things. I am really starting to crave all the things that I have given up.It is as if my mind is trying to conspire against me.

With Slimming World, you are allowed 15 syns, and so you can have naughty treats, like biscuits and cakes but the minute I eat one, I want another and another. So I stopped having my syns and now I am just craving EVERYTHING. The week I was poorly with my arthritis I did put 1 and a half lbs on, which was devastating to me and I really felt like I wanted to walk out of class and never come back, but my friends in class all persuaded me to stay and our consultant Nikki, really tried to reassure me, that sometimes gains were in inevitable and that I just needed to try and get back on track and keep going.

Last week, I lost one pound and so my total loss in 5 weeks has been 7 and a half pounds, which isnt bad, but is not good either. It is so hard, when you know you need to lose the weight but inside, part of you just wants to go back to the old me, and enjoy food again. Deep down, I am not sure I can carry on with this diet, but I will try as I know I have to do this for my health but I still miss my Greggs cakes, and baguettes and cheeseburgers, and curries. Yes, the meals I have been cooking were really nice and tasty but they dont compare to my old meals.

I wish there was a magic machine that could get rid of all the weight, so I could eat normally again but that is not going to happen. To think I have got to be like this for the rest of my life is so depressing to me, food is a constant battle in my mind and I feel like I am torn in two every day, deciding whether I can conquer the food demons that constantly surround me. I guess it is just a case of taking it minute by minute, hour by hour and just trying the best that I can.

Well, that is my post for today. I will try to be better at posting my diet journey weekly, and if you have any tips for me to help me, please let me know in the comments below, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Love and Hugs.

The Foundation Tag

Hi everyone. I saw this tag on YouTube this morning and thought that it would make a perfect blog post, and so here it is.

1) Which foundation has the best packaging?
This has to be the Kat Von D Lock It Tattoo foundation. It just looks so pretty and feminine with the design on the outside of the bottle, that I knew straight away this foundation has the best packaging.
2) Which foundation has the best colour payoff?
For me, this has to be the MakeUp Forever foundation. When I first purchased it, I thought that it was going to be too dark, but it actually suits my skin tone perfectly. I am terrible for picking foundations that are normally too light for me,  but this one really matches me well.
3)Which foundation is the most versatile/buildable?
This question was easy for me, and the answer straight away is my Estee Lauder Double Wear, you can apply a light layer if you want just a light coverage, or you can slowly build it up to be a totally full coverage product. You can even (as I have done in the past) just used it as a spot concealer and dabbed it on areas where you need a little more coverage, and it never looks too cakey or too much.
=

4) Which foundation do you think is best for travel?
This is quite a hard question as most foundations do come in heavy glass bottles, which would be a nightmare to travel with as you would be worrying about them smashing and then foundation going everywhere (my idea of a nightmare). But I found one that would be quite compact enough to travel with, and doesnt come in a glass container, so reduces the hazards of smashing and that foundation is the Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation.

5) Which foundation do you regret purchasing?
This is an easy one for me, and it is an awful foundation and that is the L'Oreal Nude Magique Eau De Teint. It is just too watery for me and just looks as if there is nothing there on my skin. It is too thin, and just looks cakey if I even try to just apply a thin layer. A big regret in my book.
6) Which foundation do you think has the best colour names?
I really don't think any of the brands have foundations with the best colour names. They are more or less the same shades used, i.e sand, nude, vanilla, etc etc.

7) Which foundation is the least used in your collection?
Definitely the L'Oreal Nude Magique Eau De Teint. I have used it maybe 4 or 5 times, got fed up with not being able to get a good enough result and unfortunately it has been languishing at the back of my drawer ever since.
8) Which foundation is your most used and most loved?
That would be a toss up between my Estee Lauder Double Wear and my MakeUp Forever foundation. I just love both of them so much as they really do give my skin that flawless, airbrushed look to my foundation that I really want.
I tag everybody who reads this blog post, to do their answers on their blog too, let me know in the comments below if you do do this tag post, and then I can come visit your blogs to read your answers.

A'Hauling we will go, feat. Mac, Illamasqua, Charlotte Tilbury and Max Factor

I'm sorry I have not been posting as regularly as I should have, I have been having some serious issues with my laptop and so now, my flash player has broken and I cannot access Twitter at all, just only on my phone. I tried to write a blog last night and I could not even get my laptop to turn on at all, so I am keeping my fingers toes, and everything else that can be crossed that I can get this post written and posted before it gives up the ghost on me again.

As you can see from the picture above, I have been doing a little bit of shopping, and this was about 3 weeks ago and so some of the products have been well loved since I purchased them.

These were the 2 Illamasqua products that I have spoke about in a previous post. I love the Rose Pout lipstick and have worn it almost constantly since I purchased it. For me it is just the perfect nude lip, and I think everyone should own this shade, and the blush is just such a pretty glittery pink.
After hearing many rave reviews about the Mc lip liner in Subculture, I finally caved and decided to purchase it. I really like it and really is a pretty warm pink/terracotta shade.

A repurchase whilst I was at the Mac counter had to be my Creme Cup lipstick. I had purchased it twice before and both times it had snapped off its base, but this time I am determined to look after it a little better as I just love the look it gives to my lips.

A brand that I don't seem to purchase much from anymore has to be Max Factor, I used to love them ages ago, for their mascaras were fantastic, but I never really fancied anything else, until they launched their new lipgloss collection. They are beautiful shimmery nudes, all with a hint of a colour to them, some are beige coloured, some are pink, some are sand, the list goes on and on.

I chose the peach shade, and it is beautiful. I did try to do a swatch of it but it just would not come out on the picture, but when you apply it either just on it's own or over the top of a lipstick or liner, it really gives the lips such a pretty sheen and sparkle, that it is a must buy in my book.

My last purchases were some of my favourites, and it is with the amazing brand Charlotte Tilbury. She can do no wrong in my eyes, her eye shadows are pigmented to the max, her lipsticks and beachsticks just glide on with no dragging of the skin, which is important to me. But this time, I bought a brush and a lip liner.

I purchased the powder and sculpt brush, and the bristles are just so lovely and soft, that it truly is a pleasure to use, and the lip liner is called Pillow Talk, and it is a beautiful nude pink shade. I really think I have a thing for nude pink lips at the moment.

I hope you have enjoyed reading all about this little haul, let me know in the comments what products you have been purchasing lately.

Love and hugs
